Since 1974, our laboratories have provided functional testing services to healthcare practitioners and their patients. BeFunctional Labs' goal is to empower practitioner and their patients to achieve and maintain optimal health through rigorous testing and evidence-based results.
BeFunctional Labs' is a specialist division of Australian Clinical Labs, one of Australia's leading pathology companies. Clinical Labs combines an extensive range of pathology services and scientific integrity to service over 7.6 million episodes per annum throughout 88 NATA accredited laboratories across Australia.

We aim to continuously improve our service and client satisfaction by putting patient care first in everything we do. Our core values support our commitment to meeting quality standards and accreditation. We maintain consistency across our network of laboratories and collection centres to ensure that the same, high level of service is experienced at all facilities.
Accreditation
Our facilities are accredited in compliance with the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) and Lloyds Register of Quality Assurance (LRQA):

- AS17025 General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories
- AS 4308 Procedures for specimen collection and the detection and quantitation of drugs in urine
- ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems Requirements
- Australia/New Zealand Guidelines for Transfusion Laboratory Practice
- National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council Guidelines and
- Australian Quarantine & Inspection Service
Accreditation is achieved by maintaining laboratories and associated services at an industry high standard. We do this through participation in external quality assurance programs with the Royal College of Pathologists Australasia (RCPA) and other program providers; Maintaining a comprehensive Internal Quality Control Program in all areas of testing; Commitment to training and continual professional development for our staff.
Please note: Every test result is subject to some degree of error. Estimates of measurement uncertainty (MU) provide information about how large this error might be. As such, MU is an important part of a reported result, MU for specific tests are available upon request.

Terms and Conditions of Service
It is your responsibility to ensure you carefully follow all steps provided to ensure the health and safety of the couriers, postage workers, specimen reception and laboratory workers.
There is no rebate offered through the Medicare Benefits Scheme for the kits available on the Australian Clinical Labs shopping cart. Some private health insurance companies may offer rebates, check with your health insurance provider for further details.
You are responsible for selection the correct test through the online shopping portal, if you are unsure, confirm with your referring practitioner. If your kit arrives through the mail damaged, contact us immediately for a replacement – do not use or send back this kit.
Australian Clinical Labs does issue refunds to unused tests for up to 6 months from purchase date, a cancellation fee of $30 applies to all kits. We do not issue refunds for kits purchased over 6 months prior to the refund request.
All kits to be returned are to have the referral form included with the samples. Without this form, there will be no patient allocated to the results and the test will take longer to process.
